Shoreline United FC announces Eddie Soto as first-ever head coach

On Saturday, Shoreline United FC announced the hiring of Long Beach native Eddie Soto as the club’s first-ever head coach. "I'm extremely humbled to be named Shoreline United FC's first Head Coach." said Soto "As a long time resident of Long Beach, I'm excited and ready to elevate the game in our beautiful city." 

One of the most decorated collegiate coaches in the country, Soto is currently Head Coach at Cal State University Dominguez Hills and Servite Catholic High School where he recently led the Friar's to a CIF Division I State Regional Championship and was named CIF Coach of the year.

“I'm excited to work with Soto,” defender and SUFC captain Jeremiya Showe said. “I've heard a lot about him when I was playing in the system. I'm confident that he will bring in a lot of knowledge to the team and hopefully he can bring the winning momentum from CIF and state regionals to help us win the league.”

Soto played professionally in the MLS in '96 for the NY/NJ Metro Stars and in '98 for the San Jose Clash. He went on to become the head Men's Assistant Coach at Cal State University Fullerton from 2001-2004. He then joined the Men's soccer program at UCLA as the Men's Assistant Coach in 2006. During his time with the Bruins, they won four Pac-12 championships ('08, '09, '11 & '12) and appeared in the College Cup twice ('06 & '11).
